dUDE wHERE'S mY cAR?

Um, so as you all may know, I have NO iphone. Its sucks for sure....and as you all know, since I live in NY, I don't have a car, cuz I use public transportation. But even that is gettin on my nerves, and I think it might be time to invest in a car.....

I take the train mostly everywhere these days. Its fast, convenient and altho cuz its the summer its usually hot as all hell while waiting for the train, I suppose its not THAT bad. Well since I dont have my iphone now, when Im on the train, I have nothing else better to do than to look at all the other people, and what they are doing...or wearing. And it dawned on me the other day....Most of the people taking public transportation were HIDEOUS!!!!!

I mean Im sorry to say this (but not really) but they were all BUTT UGLY...ok the majority of them. I really just couldnt help but notice how the people on the train jsut looked so out of place. They were raggedy, and dirty, and a lot of them looked like they had just been rolling around in dirt. I started to think that maybe I was the one who was out of place.

There was no eye candy at all either. Not that Im lookin for anyone (hey Poppa), but there were no good lookin dudes on the trains anywhere. No one with bulging muscles to drool over, no one to look at period. The ladies on the train looked all beat up and nasty too. And I mean this wasnt just one train, its like ALL of them!

I was waiting in the station the other night for like 20 minutes for the 5 train. It was kinda late, and it was hot as hell. I could feel the sweat dripping down my legs and thights and chest area. Well anyway, with nothing else to do but wait on the train, I planted myself near the stairs and jsut watched as the people filed in from above, and joined the others people like myself impatiently waiting for the train. A guy with a dirty shirt on with flip-flops...a lady with a messed up weave....teenagers with their pants hanging off their asses so I could see their stained underwear.....it was just ridiculous....

so in the words of whoever said that famous quote.....Dude, where's my car?!?!

Beauty Shop cont...

So I went to holla at my peeps at the beauty shop today. I was expecting to practice hair braiding. I was explaining to her the other day how we weave hair and such and such. So she asked if I could show her...on my own head. She had some extensions and I agreed to show her how to sow the hair in. I put a few braids in my own hair (which was fairly easy) and showed her how to sow the tracks in.

The style came out ok, but nothin I would really rock in the streets. I left it in for a while then took that shit out when I got home.

I also was tellin her about relaxers. Us black folks (and others i suppose) use relaxers to straighten our hair. I was tryna explain to her that my hair is extremely thick and unruly, and that without a relaxer id look like an animal. I told her that you put something like a chemical mask on your hair, let is sit for a while, then rinse it out. This allows my hair to stay straight for about 3-4 months, depending on how often I go to the salon and take care of my hair. She was so intrigued. I decided to bring her the box I have at home, just to show her what it looked like. Well when I go to the shop, she wanted me to put the relaxer in her hair!

I was inda skeptical cuz #1 her hair was fairly straight from her roots. The hair only curled at the tips, which she didnt like. #2 the relaxer I had was extra strength, which by the name indicates it is really strong. I wasnt sure how her hair would manage under the chemicals #3 her hair has already been colored treated (chemically). Now that is not a problem cuz plenty of people relax their hair even tho they have had their hair dyed. But again, I wasnt sure how her hair would manage under the extra strength chemicals.

Wouldnt you know her hair looked damn good. It was pin straight and she looked like a model or movie star. It looked like it was profressionally done, and honestly, she looked a bit younger in the face. I will say this tho: A LOT of her hair came out. I dont know if she was thinning, shedding or what. But a lot of hair came out when I was washing her hair and I almost thought she was balding or the relaxer was making her hair fall out. I was kinda scared......

But it all worked out and she was happy. She originally wanted to test it out first, to consider if it would be something she was interested in using on her BG customers in the future. She talked about possibly findin a connect to ship a few boxes to her. Im happy. She seems so open to new ideas and the ways in which amer (or me) do hair and how that differs from how BG do hair.

And she is gettin better with braiding and im quite please with my lil grasshopper!

Good day all....

Rage against the MAN

Who is the man? What has he done to me? Why am I raging against him?

Well I was on the tram the other day like any other usual day when Im getting around in Sofia. When you get on the trams here its unlike NY where there is jsut one door at the fron of the bus and you have to pay first, then get on. There are three doors that open and there are small metal boxes scattered along each side of the tram where you punch a paper ticket. BUT there isnt anyone there to ensure that you indeed punch the ticket and "pay your fare" This si such a shame for someone like me, cuz to be completey honest, I NEVER punch a damn thing, which means I am riding around on the trams for free. ANd its such a shame too cuz I see so many people who actually DO punch there tram ticket and throw them away. So many honest people. On tues there was me and 2 other people on the tram, 2 girls. These heifers actually got up to punch their tickets with just 3 people on the damn tram. I was so confused. There wasnt anyone there to say anything to them if they hadnt punched their ticket.....

But the plot thickens. There are secret ticket checkers. They get on the tram, some dressed in pfficial uniforms, others dressed in plain clothes with a hidden badge, and chck all the tickets on the tram. If you donthave a punched ticket, you can get a fine of up to 15-20 leva I think. I am always on the lookout for these folks....

So on tues, Im so excited cuz I just finished shoppin and Im kinda tired. A seat opened up and I jumped in it. It just happened to be in front of one of the tram doors. Wouldnt you know a secret ticket checker just pops up out of nowhere and starts checkin tickets. I quickly break out the spare ticket I keep in my wallet JUST for this type of situation and quickly punch that joint. When she gets to me, she asks why I just punched my ticket. Tryna not to sound like I know Bulgarian too well, I ask her to repeat herself, then explain to her that I JUST got on the train and that I had so many bags that I needed a sec to find my ticket blah blah blah. She gave me the BULLSHIT BITCH look but kept it movin.....hahahahhaha

I feel like this: 1. if the government gave 2 shits about if people bout tram tickets and paid to get on the tram, they would properly make sure it happened. But since the system is basically one of honor, some people buy tickets and punch them, others dont. I am one of the others dont.....lol 2. Most of the time, I am only going from one street to the mall, which is like a 10 minute walk. Since I am extremely lazy I just take the tram. Why pay 2 leva (one ticket is one lev but from vitosha to the mall it takes 2 trams) when Im only going a short distance?!?! 3. Ive put up with so much bullshit in this damn country, I deserve a lil retribution. I think of this as gettin back at the man for all the oppression ive suffered while in BG.

Im tellin, its the lil things and the way you rationalize that get you through......and damnit Im with Leah on this shit: when in the hell with the school year be OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR?!?!?!

June is for STARS

Well Well Well, that special time of year is upon us folks, yep you guessed it MY BIRTHDAY. The most glorious day that brought about the birth of the great one, Lady Sha Sha herself, or Shantay to most of you. It is said that the heavens parted, and she descended upon Earth wraps in the softest of silks, with a white light about her. She was given to a man and women to call their daughter and blessed this world with her beauty and wit.

Now I dont know where this came from, or who said this, but damnit they hit the nail on the head!

Anyway, Ive decided that since my birthday is coming up June 16 (for those who are in the dark) I should post some old pics of me, and share some fun facts about my self that will interest you. Ill be featuring pics from my college years, up til recently, and be sharing things about my childhood and other facts that I know you all are dying to read about.

Let the festivities begin bitches!!!!!

Oh and because I do believe that June is for stars, Id like to shout out all the Gemini's (hey EZ) and June babies including my big sis (June 10) and my other mom (June 21). If you have a b-day in June list your date so I can shout you out to, cuz your almost as important as me!

Believe in you!

The good folks

So Ill just take a sec to recognize the Bulgarians who are just so wonderful. They joke with me, they invite me places, and they are just so nice and caring.
Vanya-works in my school. She is so adorable. She is an older woman and I go and talk to her often about all sorts of things. During the spring break, I came to the school to see her. She walked to the stored to help me buy the yellow ribbon for my apt, and bought me some ice-cream cuz it was nice that day. I've been over to her house once and she made a ovely dinner for me. She is the epitome of a loving grandma I would say, and she makes me feel extra welcome. She squeezes or smacks by booty from time to time and it would be awkward if it were anyone else, but she is extra cool.
Im not gonna go person by person, but I would just like to put in the atmosphere that there are really NICE and DECENT people who live in Pernik and they treat me like a very dear friend or a family member.

How CREATIVE am I?!?!

Well what do we have here?!? I always think its good if students can have fun when they are learning. It helps them to feel more relaxed and encourages them to want to learn. So I decided since the students were havin a hard time with some of the new vocab words we were learning, that I would make some games to help them. I slaved until 2AM makin these damn games. I did a "Chutes and ladders" game (pictured below). I even got all creative and made the pieces from Bulgarian change. Then I created a "Vocab Dominoes" game. Like dominoes but instead og matching the same number, you had to match the word by its Definition, Antonym, or the part of speech that it was (verb, adjective, etc).

The second half of the the 10g class seemed to like it somewhat. I played the Dominoes game cuz it was the hardest. You really had to study to play the game. But the first half of the class just got on my nerves. They were totally unappreciative of the games, and seemed bored to death. Now granted, these were learning games, probably less fun than playing one of their many wack ass card games, BUT this is still school. And the point was to help them learn the new vocab. The first half of the 10g class is so much worse than the second half. They get on my nerves for real, but not more than the entire 9g class, they really make me sick!

Lightbulb flashing....

So amidst the snow fallin to the ground and it being fairly cold yesterday and today, my brain was still workin at its normal high speed capacity! I came up with the VERY BRIGHT idea of possibly doing a SCIENCE FAIR!

I know you all remember having a science fair at your school. Making a replica volcano and making it erupt by mixing baking soda and ....well anyway, you know what I mean. I figured it would be so cute to do something like that. I want to colaborate with the science teachers and hopefully we could make it happen.

I think its a marvelous idea! Lets see if I can manuever this.....
