WOW
The 2 students who took the make up were done fairly quickly. I honestly was kinda happy. I had prepared some stuff to do with the students the other day, but was reluctant to actually do it cuz I know a lot of them just wanted to relax. In the 9th class they just wanna play cards and talk all day, so I assumed thats what the 10g wanted to do as well. But it never hurts to have some stuff to do on standby.....
Which is awesome. When the students finished early, I could sense that the 10g wanted to do something. They all looked so bored and pitiful. So I asked if they wanted to continue doin nothin, or if they wanted to do this activity I thought of the other day. Mind you, I literally can pluck something out the air and make it an activity. They were up for it, so we began.....
I decided to focus on speaking, and games for these last few days of class. I came up with a topic, in this case communication, and centered different activities and discussion questions around that. So today we talked about different ways people communicate (via phone, internet, letters, sign language). Then I asked what is necessary for communicating with a person. We played the telephone game, where you whisper something to someone and it trickles down a line of people and the last person has to say what they hear. It was quite fun and that helped them understand the question (you have to speak the same language, speak clearly, be able to understand the person etc) Then we talked about people who cant speak at all, and how they communicate. That lead into a miming game I thought of. Boys vs. Girls vs Me. I had a list and told them to think of words that could be mimed. The other two teams would watch someone mime a word from their list and if someone from the other teams could guess the word, they get a point, if not, the mimer keeps the point. It turned out better than I thought. The boys won, by a very wide margin (I had 1 damn point), but it was very fun.......
The next class was excited about the game and they did well also. My last class was the 9g and they seemed so bubbly today. I walked in and they just knew I would give them free time. Some of them were huddled around a table and began to scream for me to come over and show them how to shuffle cards. I demonstrated my superb shuffling skills, and showboated for a while, before I broke out the UNO cards and they began to get a game going. They seemed to really have fun, and even tho I just watched, I couldnt help but join in the fun by laughing at mistakes and comments people made. Then one of the girls showed me some magic tricks that were actually pretty good.
A teacher invited me to cafe and altho I had my reservations, she is really nice so I decided to go. Butterflies were clearly flyin from my wallet, but I figured if I got a coffee, I should be ok cuz I eventually found 57 stotinki strategically hiding in my bag. I dont even drink coffee....SAD, I know....
I talked with about 3 of the teachers and altho I didnt understand EVERYTHING, I must admit I held my own. WE talked about piracy, illegal downloads, the lady who has to pay millions cuz she got busted and some other stuff *pats self on the back*
It was rainin bout time we were ready to leave. I felt a bit stupid cuz the one damn day I choose to wear open toe sandals, it rains!!! What an idiot.....But the rain felt good on my humongous toes....lol
Im sittin here now waiting for the rain to subside so I can go to the supermarket and buy food. Ive been tellin people all day how I have just ketchup, jelly and ice in my fridge. I figure I should do something bout that, and of course, THANK the LORD the supermarket takes credit cards, cuz i am bummin it something serious these days. I was thinkin I should go now tho. Its just a light drizzle out and Im sure not many people will be at the market, which means I dont have to worry about being a walkin freak show for these people. I get to tense and uncomfy when I feel people staring at me......
Overall, a surprisingly pleasant day! and it gets better, im on the second shift tomorrow (class begins at 1). Why this is happening in the middle of the week and the end of the damn month, I dont know and dare not ask any questions. But the 10g also told me that they are goin on an excursion fri and wont be in school mon and tues (the last few days of work) and if the 9g decided not to come (god willing) then that means tomorrow is my UNofficial last day, since I dont work fri. I suppose Ill have to check in mon and tues. but im gonna shoot the gun and say my last day is tom......
alright folks, its that time again. Im gonna go pretend I have a life, altho we all know ill be layin in bed watchin tv/runnin to the comp to check my email like every 3.2 seconds. Good day all....

My Old School Homey

and of course poppa, who is a different kind of friend, but a dear one nonetheless....muah
Gotta give it up....
Mere:

What can I say about this heifer. She's smart, down to earth, cool as hell, and mad funny! Killer body, plays soccer, and from that second pic, knows how to rock some killer shoes! Just wanted to SHOUT OUT my peeps fro real. She been readin my blog from jump, and this post is LONG overdue. When I get back to the NY we gon party like its 1999...uummm somebody need to remix/update that song....anyway Just wanted to rectify the situation, and put yall on OFIICIAL notice, Mere is in the f*ckin building!!!!
Get used to this face. Im sure you will be seein a lot more pics of her, deli and I, the new musketeers crew. I already predict we gon be caught up in some shit....

So I do have to give the BG props, or maybe I should say the Europeans in general. There music sounds is truly like no other, and they are so eclectic. Now usually there are specific shows that cater to a specific styleof music. And while you may have shows like the former Total Request Live (MTV) those shows tend to really only cover pop music. Songs that are on the billboard charts.
While I must admit, at times it seems like the redundancy of Ciara's Love, Sex and Magic, or T.I.'s Dead and Gone is gonna make me slit a wrist, the music channels do play a wide variety of music styles.
For example, I came across this lil gem, Agnes. This song is fire (hey Alex). I got put on to some rock jams too (uumm Kings of Leon). There is also another spanish song, tu cafe. Thats a banga...
The other groups, on the scene right now are good ones too. N-Dubz, Tinchy Strider. They all use kinda techno beats but the lyrics are cool and the sound is something you can move to. My new joint is "Too Many Men" this song is hilarious.....
I know im missin a lot of music in the states. The Dream is everywhere, Fabolous seems to be back on the scene and a couple of new faces on the come up, Drake.
But for now, Europe's eclectic music tastes trumps what they got goin on in the states....

Im tellin yall, my teeth are white as hell....
Stalker Status
Im just curious cuz I often feel like im a border line stalker sometimes with my actions. I call Poppa sometimes and he doesnt pick up. So then I call right back (in case it was a mistake or he didnt reach the phone in time). No answer. But then this kinda makes me mad. I wait for a few minutes then call back. No answer. Wait. Call back. And before I know it, Ive called homeboy about 10 times in the span of a ahlf hour. And Im gonna call him back later to see why the hell he didnt pick up the phone earlier.
I feel like a stalker at this point.
Uuhhh, yeah.....pick up the damn phone bitch!
Beauty Shop cont...
The style came out ok, but nothin I would really rock in the streets. I left it in for a while then took that shit out when I got home.
I also was tellin her about relaxers. Us black folks (and others i suppose) use relaxers to straighten our hair. I was tryna explain to her that my hair is extremely thick and unruly, and that without a relaxer id look like an animal. I told her that you put something like a chemical mask on your hair, let is sit for a while, then rinse it out. This allows my hair to stay straight for about 3-4 months, depending on how often I go to the salon and take care of my hair. She was so intrigued. I decided to bring her the box I have at home, just to show her what it looked like. Well when I go to the shop, she wanted me to put the relaxer in her hair!
I was inda skeptical cuz #1 her hair was fairly straight from her roots. The hair only curled at the tips, which she didnt like. #2 the relaxer I had was extra strength, which by the name indicates it is really strong. I wasnt sure how her hair would manage under the chemicals #3 her hair has already been colored treated (chemically). Now that is not a problem cuz plenty of people relax their hair even tho they have had their hair dyed. But again, I wasnt sure how her hair would manage under the extra strength chemicals.
Wouldnt you know her hair looked damn good. It was pin straight and she looked like a model or movie star. It looked like it was profressionally done, and honestly, she looked a bit younger in the face. I will say this tho: A LOT of her hair came out. I dont know if she was thinning, shedding or what. But a lot of hair came out when I was washing her hair and I almost thought she was balding or the relaxer was making her hair fall out. I was kinda scared......
But it all worked out and she was happy. She originally wanted to test it out first, to consider if it would be something she was interested in using on her BG customers in the future. She talked about possibly findin a connect to ship a few boxes to her. Im happy. She seems so open to new ideas and the ways in which amer (or me) do hair and how that differs from how BG do hair.
And she is gettin better with braiding and im quite please with my lil grasshopper!
Good day all....
Terrible....Tuesdays
So nothin much new goin on. Ive officially sank to an all new low. I managed to be on the comp for several hours yesterday, bouncing back and forth between youtube/ybf.com/facebook/and gmail. Im such a loser.....
Class....uuhhh yest and today went by pretty smoothly. I looked at my calender and damn near had a heart attack thinkin that we had another full week of work after this one. But then I wised up and realized work is officially over next tuesday. Ive been thinkin lately how much it must suck for the other teachers. The younger kids (I believe up to 7g) got out of school June 15th. They for some retarded reason got out before the older kids, while the rest of us are all doomed til the 30th. But here is the kicker: those teachers still have to come to work from 9-2. And all they do is check in, sit around for a bit, then holla at the cafe. That sucks ass......
Most days Im done pretty early. And after work is over, im ghost. I no longer wish to sit and chit chat with folks that #1 I cant understand half the time and #2 who barely even talk to me. I usually kinda awkardly sit at the table and drink my juice extra quick, for lack of anything else to do. The occassional head nod, or da here and there is obligatory. But im over it. Aint no point in fakin the funk.....
So Im home now. Just finished takin a nap. Nothin on TV, and my headphones were makin my ears ache so I just took a nap.
Oh, so I have like no food in my fridge...AGAIN. Ive been living on raamen noodles, eggs and waffles. So lets talk about how two weeks into JUNE, my monthly allowance was completey DEPLETED. I had to pay for my trip to Greece, but since I squandered May's monthly allowance, I had to take that money out of June's money. Then I had to pretend to be a volunteer who cared, and did a sessionon diversity for the new volunteers which set me back a whole bunch of money. Taxi fares, travel expenses. At that point, around like June 9th, I had like 120 leva in my account. Lol....Where did THAT money go....uuhhh thats all kinda fuzzy at this point......
Dippin into my amer bank account is nothin new to me. I usually only do it to buy clothes tho. But I need to do it this time to eat! Oh my frivolous nature will be the death of me im sure.....
On another note, what the hell is up with the weather? It rained yesterday, and it was so cold this mornin on my way to work. Its supposed to be chilly for the rest of the week. I remember it being extremely hot this time last year. But then again maybe global warming (or colding I should say) is catchin up to us....
oh and randomly, when I went to work earlier, there was a sign that said something about if you love yourself, forget the narcotics....I found it extremely random since there are like 3 classes left in the school cuz its the end of the year. And also, is this some new campaign to combat drug use, or was it just one of those general 'dont use drugs" kinda things....ill never fully understand this place....

what does it all mean???
These are just random thoughts, but just follow me for a sec.....so I saw this pic of this girl I used to be real cool with. And I mean we were real cool back in the day. I thought she was big shit poppin at one point. But now, uumm thats a negativo!!! In the pic, homegirl was lookin mighty jacked up. Hair all fucked up, lookin like she had one too many Burger King double whoppers with bacon.... Now why she was walkin on the damn planet let alone around NYC like that is beyond me, but anyway.....Seein her like that honestly made me feel good. At my age, doin what I do, I look damn good. The friendship didnt end THAT bad, it kinda just dissipated. But she DID look horrible.....
Which brings me to my next point. I am a firm believer in "out of sight, out of mind" People you call friends who, unless they see you, could give too shits about you. And im talkin bout real friens. People you were with all the time on a regular basis. But I suppose things cant always be the same, and when things change, feelings and actions change.
I also think that people are in your life for seasons. They touch you, teach you a few things, and make you realize what they are supposed to. They play a role and then POOF, they are gone. The experience might be good and it might be bad, but you learn something from every experience, every exchange.
I guess I just feel so out the loop. I used to be really cool with a lot of people, but when i travel, its like those relationships are lost. When I was in japan, it was so difficult to stay friends with a lot of people.
Oh, ok so another random thought....grad school. Been checkin out a few things in my spare time and found this really good program Im interested in. I supose being proactive and having a plan doesnt help one bit. The program was really good, and its at a great school in NY.
Oh so to connect this whole blog and so that its not just extra random, my point was why have friends when you can just be a loner???? hahahahaha
LEarn to depend on yourself and if people are in your corner then they should be there regardless the situation or the distance. LEarn to depend on yourself.......AND finally, you can always take comfort in the fact that when things dont go your way, and you are in a rough spot, you can alway look at others and how bad they are doing to cheer yourself up. That sounded so bad, but those who know me know damn well I meant it, and that Im such a....yeah you were thinkin it, a bitch! hahahahaha
At least I know that, and Im cool with it....Lookin forward to an easy work week.
ciao kiddies
Extra Slow...
I was thinkin to do some extra extravagant bday bash, but uumm that was a negative. G recently lost her job, so we dont go anywhere anymore. Last weekend we met up and I said we should go to the movies and lunch. She almost had a heart attack and said we couldnt do both. And since food trumps everything else in general, I was down with lunch. I havent been to the club in like a decade, and no fun has been had for a while.
So I tried to get Andrea to go out with me, but since I procrastinated and waited til the last min to ask her to chill, it didnt happen. She had plans already. We planned somethin for next weekend, and Alex might join in too.
So what is there to do when there is nothin to do?!?!?! hahaha DRINK!!!!!!! so those old tendencies decided to creep back out the woodworks. I was so bored Friday night, I was like fuckit, let me just go get this bottle of green apple vodka and get fucked up! I went right to the 24 hour place in my flip-flops and head scarf and proceeded to get my bottle, juice and a big ass bag or roasted chicken chips. I got on yahoo messenger and chatted with G, and called it a night. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooo dunzo about 1AM or later.
Saturday I woke up feelin kinda woozy and remembered exactly why I hate gettin drunk. The buzzin in your head, or loomin ache that kinda is just there. But shit, wasnt nothin else to do. And the same could be said for Sat night. I took it a lil bit easier tho.
Uumm, I better do something next weekend or its tappin the damn bottle again for me. The lush is creepin up on me yall, slowly but surely.
Happy Father's Day
This is something new for me cuz my dad was never really around for me. My birthday falls on fathers day every 4-5 years and I remember wishing I had a dad to celebrate. But he was never around. He recently tried to get back in contact with me, and Im happy about that, but also wary.
In any event, I know a great dad personally, and I know he will be reading this blog, so Id like to shout out Poppa cuz he definately is the epitome of a good dad. Its not about money, its not about anything material when it comes to kids. As long as you are an example for them, and show them unconditional love, thats all they need. The rest will fall into place. And Poppa definately does this job to a T, effortlessly.
Happy Fathers Day to Poppa, and just in case you have forgotten it was today or you are Bulgarian and dont really celebrate it, it might just be nice to say thank you to your dad, or your mom for that matter. I cant remember the last time I said thank you to my mom for all the shit she has to put up with from me, but also all the times she has just been there for me to advise me and share a laugh or just be my mom. They really appreciate that kinda stuff, and so should you.
Ok, im off my soap box.....
The Cheese Stands Alone
For the 9g they had an essay. I went over with them what I wanted them to do for an opinion essay, you know, how to write the intro, and what goes in the body of the essay. The students almost had a heart attack the day I told them they would be tested on this stuff. Naturally they already know everything and I suppose they felt they didnt need to review this in class. But Im sure some folks didnt do as well and they think they did. One girl didnt even write anything but her name on the test. Altho that disappointed me a lot, I cant say I didnt expect it or was a bit surprsied. I gave the class 2 questions and they were to choose one, and write their opinion on the topic by answering a questions. For example, Do what kids see on tv effect their behavior, or when learning a foreign language, do you think it's necessary to travel to the place where that language is spoken? We went over these topics in class and im eager to see what their responses were. I feel like im gonna have to break a few hearts if the essay is not written how it should be...oh wells
So this was a decent test. There was no possible way to cheat. Especially since I had 4 versions of the test with different questions. So the first half of the class could have told the people in the second half what the questions were, but there was no guarantee they would necessarily get that question. And since it was based on opinion, there really was no way to cheat. But the 10g was a bit different.
There test was on Romeo and Juliet, and a reading we covered in the textbook. And let me just say, uumm seriously guys?!?!?! Not only did I devote one class to a test prep, covering EXACTLY what would be on the test, but the damn questions were taken DIRECTLY from the textbook. We answered questions in class and I just took those and put them on the test. And for Romeo and Juliet, all they had to do was paraphrase what several quotes said. And there wasnt THAT much stuff to study.
But as you can imagine, folks were goin above and voyond to get their cheat on. Using cell phones (WTF?!?!?) asking other people for answers...in BG as if I couldnt understand, cheat sheets. And again, I cant say I was surprised. But honestly, I was diappointed. I didnt think the test was super hard, and if folks managed to pay attention in class (1) then study just a LIL BIT (2) they would have done fine.
For this reason, I had to make 5 different verisons of the 10g test. YES I made 5 different verisons. One girl in one class actually wrote what was on her test on a sheet of paper so that she could share it with someone in the nest class (or someone who was absent that day i suspect). I caught her with it and tore it up. Its funny cuz I dont even think she did that well on her own damn test. I had to announce to the class that 1. there were several different versions of the test and that 2. the other class DEFINATELY didnt have the same test as them. This one kid kept askin this girl for answers and I would look at her with the face that said you betta not say one word! She looked at me, smiled and shrugged her shoulders as if to say I dont know.
Cheating really is pointless, esp since the test was so damn easy and was straight from the damn textbook. I have no sympathy for these lil jokers!
I hope I dont break people's hearts with their end of the year grades. I look at it like this: how you gon get mad at me cuz I give you the grade you deserve. You been comin to class listenin to music, not doin work, not takin notes, tryna cheat on the test, and expect me to give you a decent grade. Sikeeeeeeeeeeeeee, not gonna happen playa. For those students who did what they were supposed to do, you will be given the grade you deserve. Again, I have no sympathy or qualms about failin people or givin them low grades, esp since aug its on its way and ima be out this bitch......hahahahaha

Maxwell-Pretty Wings
Time will bring the real end of our trial
One day there’ll be no remnants
No trace no residual feelings within ya
one day you won’t remember me
Your face will be the reason I smile
But I will not see what I can not have forever
I’ll always love ya
I hope u feel the same
Oh you played me dirty your game was so bad
You toyed with my affliction
had to fill out my prescription
Found the remedy
I had to set u free
Away from me
To see clearly
the way that love can be
When you are not with me
I had to leave, I have to live
I had to lead, I had to live
Chorus
If I cant have you let love set you free
To fly your pretty wings around
pretty wings your pretty wings
your pretty wings your pretty wings around
I came wrong You were right
Transformed your love into a lie
Baby believe me I’m sorry I told you lies
I turned day into night
Sleep till I died a thousand times
I should’ve shown you
Better nights Better times Better Days
I miss you more and more
Repeat Chorus
FYI: I recorded myself singin this song, thinkin I sounded pretty good. UM clearly that was a negative. I sounded like a cat being strangled. Um I think its time to drop the Lady Sha Sha act cuz I have no chances in this life time or the next of gettin a recording deal. I think it takes actually hearing yourself sing on a recording to realize that you cant sing at all (for those of US who this applies to). I guess this is all to the good anyway, I like wearing pants and skirts.....

Beauty Shop
There is a lady in town who I go to for my hair cuts. She is pretty decent, but I only go for cuts. They dont have those sit under dryers here, so my hair came out lookn so poofy and thick after she hand blow dried it one time. I told her I could braid hair and she instantly became obsessed. She kept askin me questions bout how I learned, how long Ive been braiding, and what styles I can do. She even asked if I could teach her to braid. I was kinda skeptical cuz its difficult to explain something to someone when you dont know the words to do so. I gave her my number anyway.....
She never called.....
I had a lot of split ends, so I had to holla at homegirl so she could trim my hair. I mentioned the braiding thing and she said she still wanted to learn. So we set up a date and Ive since begun teaching her how to braid hair. Its easier than I thought cuz I can just show her how to do it, but its not THAT easy cuz there is still words involved. Today we met and she had one of those manequin head things. It was super ugly....hahahaha
I stayed there about 2 hours. After we practiced together, she bought me ice cream and she, her sister, the nail lady and myself all began to talk. We talked about men, me in BG, my work, school, a whole bunch of stuff. Stuff ladies talk about when they are in a salon, minus being able to understand everything, and being able to actually speak cuz Im too busy figuring out what they hell is being said.
So then we started talkin bout ways they do hair in BG, and how they color hair (is she says I should die my hair blonde one more time im smackin her) and how they apply extentions (fake hair). Now I dont know if any of my non black readers are hip to the hair game (weaving hair, braiding hair, puttin in extentions, ways to make your hair look longer) but I sure am. She told me that they sow a clip onto a track of human hair and clip it onto the real hair. But a clip only lasts but so long, and the clips themselves are expensive, on top of the hair that costs about 250 leva. I told her that in the states we weave hair, which consists of braiding the hair neatly and tightly, then sowing on tracks of human hair to the braids. This lasts for about 3 months or so, and you can wash/style the hair anyway you like cuz its human hair. She found this all to be so fascinating.
I think it is too. She wants to learn how to do different things to the hair so that she can get more clientale and learn something new. I cant knock her for that, cuz folks gotta eat these days. Im actually really excited about teaching her all this stuff.....
One lil girl in the shop gettin her hair done, who was extra nosey and all up in our conversation askedif I was a hair dresser. I was like no boo. Get ya mind right. Then my students sister was there and we were talkin bout school. So the lil girl gon ask me what class am I in. If I wasnt flattered cuz she was implying that I looked young, I mighta smack her too for being so nosey. Thats why kids are a no-no........
16 Bars
at best you got fool chips
Im so 3008 I got dual chips
I had to spit this lil rhyme as an ode to my new phone. Its a dual chip phone so I can put both my sim cards in it. The green button in the pick is for SIM! and the white button on top is for SIM2. When you make a call, you select the contact and just hit which sim you want to call with . This joint is so convenient. Unlike in the states, where it doesnt matter if you r callin someone on another network/phone company, here most people just walk around with 2 phones. For those of your friends who have MTEL, you have their numbers stored in one phone, and those friends with GLOBUL are on another phone. This dual chip koint makes my life so much more convenient!!!!
The rhyme actually isnt that bad for those of you who are laughin. Its all in the delivery!!!!
Rage against the MAN
Well I was on the tram the other day like any other usual day when Im getting around in Sofia. When you get on the trams here its unlike NY where there is jsut one door at the fron of the bus and you have to pay first, then get on. There are three doors that open and there are small metal boxes scattered along each side of the tram where you punch a paper ticket. BUT there isnt anyone there to ensure that you indeed punch the ticket and "pay your fare" This si such a shame for someone like me, cuz to be completey honest, I NEVER punch a damn thing, which means I am riding around on the trams for free. ANd its such a shame too cuz I see so many people who actually DO punch there tram ticket and throw them away. So many honest people. On tues there was me and 2 other people on the tram, 2 girls. These heifers actually got up to punch their tickets with just 3 people on the damn tram. I was so confused. There wasnt anyone there to say anything to them if they hadnt punched their ticket.....
But the plot thickens. There are secret ticket checkers. They get on the tram, some dressed in pfficial uniforms, others dressed in plain clothes with a hidden badge, and chck all the tickets on the tram. If you donthave a punched ticket, you can get a fine of up to 15-20 leva I think. I am always on the lookout for these folks....
So on tues, Im so excited cuz I just finished shoppin and Im kinda tired. A seat opened up and I jumped in it. It just happened to be in front of one of the tram doors. Wouldnt you know a secret ticket checker just pops up out of nowhere and starts checkin tickets. I quickly break out the spare ticket I keep in my wallet JUST for this type of situation and quickly punch that joint. When she gets to me, she asks why I just punched my ticket. Tryna not to sound like I know Bulgarian too well, I ask her to repeat herself, then explain to her that I JUST got on the train and that I had so many bags that I needed a sec to find my ticket blah blah blah. She gave me the BULLSHIT BITCH look but kept it movin.....hahahahhaha
I feel like this: 1. if the government gave 2 shits about if people bout tram tickets and paid to get on the tram, they would properly make sure it happened. But since the system is basically one of honor, some people buy tickets and punch them, others dont. I am one of the others dont.....lol 2. Most of the time, I am only going from one street to the mall, which is like a 10 minute walk. Since I am extremely lazy I just take the tram. Why pay 2 leva (one ticket is one lev but from vitosha to the mall it takes 2 trams) when Im only going a short distance?!?! 3. Ive put up with so much bullshit in this damn country, I deserve a lil retribution. I think of this as gettin back at the man for all the oppression ive suffered while in BG.
Im tellin, its the lil things and the way you rationalize that get you through......and damnit Im with Leah on this shit: when in the hell with the school year be OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR?!?!?!
White Underwear
I dont know about you, but I do NOT like nor do I think its appropriate to see your lime green bra, red panties, white panties or anything else that should be left to the imagination. Its the summer time and many people wear white, but I think we should all take a sec out of our day to GOOGLE how to do so while being tactful and PASS ON THAT INFO.
Oh, and the lace/see through shirts....on teachers/older people/grandmas.....lets just stop it please?!?!
again, just wanted to put that out there.....
Train Excapades
So on Tues, I went to Sofia to get some shoppin in. I finished work pretty early, bout 12 or so, and decided what the hell, your bday is tomorrow. I usualy take the bus cuz its closer to my house, and Ive just got accustomed to travelin that way. BUT on this particular day, I figured sonce I was goin to the mall, I should take the train since it will put me closer to the mall which = more time to shop.
And here is where I say a big damn you b*tches for sayin people need to take the road less traveled......
Wouldnt you know, one stop away from where I got on, we stayed at the station for damn near 2 1/2 hours (I sooo which I could caps lock that for emphasis)?!?!?!?! Apparently when we stopped I thought it was something routine, a short delay or what have you. But noooooooooooo something happened to some guy at the next station which prevented his train from moving, thus preventing our train from moving, thus further preventing me from gettin to Sofia earlier to shop. Chain reaction........
Folks got off the train to play cards at a table at the train stop. The ticket checkers started unbuttoning their shirts and gettin comfy, the damn train driver got off the train to start yappin his gums. Folks were drinkin beer to pass the time, or just plain knocked out/mouth open in a deep slumber. And the funny thing is, I didnt dare ask for a refund so I could go take the bus. The seemed almost ridiculous.....
So here I am, playing with my phone, eating chips and chocolate, hoping that someone wouldnt snatch a cute bag that I might want, or take the size I needed and bought something that I could have worn so much better. Finally, the train begins to move. I thought maybe I would see blood/guts/someones head at the station when we passed it, but honestly everything looked to be like normal and I was wondering what the hell could have happened to hold us up for 2 1/2 hours (insert emphasis here)...
So some guy gets on the train and asked me for the time, altho he had a watch on. I suppose he just wanted to make sure his time was correct, altho I really suspect he just wanted to say something to me. And mind you this dude looked to be like 65. So as he is gettin off the train, he extends his hand to me and says have a nice day. I shook it to be polite and said the same to you IN BULGARIAN. That must have been a test to see my skills cuz this MOFO gon tell me that at the stop he was gettinoff at, there is a really nice hotel nearby. At first I thought maybe I didnt hear correctly, but then he started talkin shit bout how his town is so nice blah blah blah and mentions the hotel again. I just shook my damn head and turned away.....the nerve of these people.......
Then I had to go to the bathroom. And thank the lord for those lil tissue things cuz there was NO type of anything that resembled toilet paper. And not to mention the smell. Oh my Goodnes it smelled so damn rauncy in there I almost couldnt use the bathroom.....
Oh so then there were these drunk dudes on the train. They started walkin back and forth from car to car arguin about something. And besides the fact that they were slurrin their words, wobblin from side to side in a drunken stupor and reeked of booz, one dude had the audacity to be holding a freshly poured to the brim plastic cup of beer...ON THE TRAIN. I was beyond stupified......
Train ride from hell. Im takin the bus like I usually do from here on out damnit.....
I See you Girl
Bday Gifts/Love
Painting. On the cliff there is a bird kinda just chillin and takin it all in alone. I think thats me. Just doin my own lil thang....
The art teacher at my school was supposed to do a portrait of me. I sent her a dozen pics of me before she finally admitted she didnt have time to actually do it. She did however cough up this lil jewel......
Everyone loves flowers right? Mama Vanya, my colleague and students gave me flowers
This is the gift from my colleagues (the ladies I had lunch with). The director gave it to me personally while everyone watched. She said a few words and I was so surprised that they went out of their way to get me anything. The bottle is full of rakia, tihs awful alcohol that they have here and think is the best thing since sliced bread. Its in a wagon and those lil cup things all have Bulgaria inscribed on them. Its just adorable......
OH and as a side note, I love russian salad. There is a colleague at my job who makes the best homemade russian salad I have ever had. So for my bday I asked her to make me some and she obliged. Well I was out of the house when she came by, so she left it with my neighbors. I came home and got it and I was extra eager to eat the salad. I open the bag look inside and see the salad in a plastic container, a rose and a small bag with something in it. I open the bag and its a stick deodorant?!?!?! excuse me.....I kept tryan figure out if she meant I smelled, if that was a mistake, or if it was something she got by accident and didnt want it. Um WTF?!?!
Happy Birthday to ME
That vodka got me a lil tipsy. I havent had a drink in a lil min (other than that bottle of wine that one time) and by 2:30 my eyes started to feel droopy. I went home to change clothes real quick. For some reason I got extremely dirty and couldnt be seen walkin round like that. I did a quick "change clothes and go" into this lil number. Met up with some other folks for drinks and such.

Uh
Summer Plans
Oh the fun. Now I just have to make it to the end of the school year without hurtin myself or one of these damn students.
Pray for me!
Gettin Ready
So Ive decided to do 3 outfits for the special occasion. A first indeed for me. Usually I just do a nice club outfit. But for some reason, I feel like I gotta stunt this time around. So I was walkin around the other day and saw this cute lil shirt. It went really nice with this cute white skirt. The outfit was very summerish and looked awesome on me. So Im thinkin that will be my work outfit. Ill come to school with that on and do the BG thing and bring a box of chocolates and offer them to everyone.
Vanya thinks I should do something that day and Ive decided to bake a cake and do a small thing in her office. A Russian salad, shopska, some vodka, juice and call it a day.
For the weekend, Im gonna do dinner with G and invite other vols to come hang. Then I have to do a quick outfit change (dont know where exactly) and put on my club outfit.
So jsut to make sure you get it, that 3 different birthday celebration outfits, a small get together with colleagues, and im baking a cake.
This should be fun. You'll see all the pics, dont worry....
O Really?!?!
So come from out of nowhere, and says of course they are tired, they are at the club and cafe til 12 AM.
Im not sure if that was some justification for them being tired, or if she was being a smart ass, or agreeing with me by being sarcastic. But uumm....
In the other half of the 9g class, the activity went really well. Folks were standing on the table taping straws together. In the 10g class, it went well too. They seemed a lot more methodical and systematic. Most of their structures had a base to it, and they all worked together really well.
The winners get ice cream...I hope I can afford it.
This is my last day of work, cuz Im off on fridays, so Ill hit yall up next week. Have a great weekend folks....
And im out....

Straws
The idea of the activity is to build the highest free standing structure, only using tape and straws in 10 minutes. The structure cant be taped to the ground, and has to stand for at least 30 seconds. The team with the highest structure wins. Easy right....
I thought this would be a chill activity. It has that element of competition, and is relatively fun cuz you really have to think about how to get the structure to stand in the alotted time.
So I let the class choose their teams. MISTAKE. One group was talkin instead of competing. I also noticed that some of them were not interested. In one group about 3 of the girls just talked and watched the one girl try to create the structure. I had to remind them that it was a group effort and that they should be helping. I also noticed that there wasnt very much competition. I mean that drive that makes you want to do as much as possible in the time given and actually beat the other teams. Everyone seemed so calm and relaxed even when there was a prize at stake. When I did this activity, I remember my group was on it! WE jumped up out our chairs when we heard the signal to do so. We all helped and dialogued on how to get it to stand. We argued but came up with a plan and put it into action. I should mention that we won the challenge partly due to the fact that Im not a LOSER! I get the job done.....
Anyway, maybe it was just the class. The 9g is always lazy, even with games sometimes. Some of them maybe just didnt really think about it all that much. I realize now that competition and games in class is not something they are used to. Some of them like it, others are just like "blah"
Ill see how it goes in the other classes.....
Speakin of the 9g class, they showed their asses again yest. Well mostly just one boy who shall remain nameless. They have a test next week and they have to write an essay. I was doing tips on how to weite a good essay and brought in an example so we could analyze it and told them to practice writing an opinion essay. Well one kid just decided he was above doing anything and he really pissed me off. I had to show him who the BOSS was. I told him to do his work, or leave the class. HE started writing for like 2 minutes then stopped. So I told him instead of answering the question given, he could write on why he thinks he doesnt have to do work in my class. He holds his book up and says he wrote something. There had to be like 4 lines on the paper. Something that usually happen. The students sometimes think that if they write a few words, then thats good enough (quality over quantity is not poopin over here). So I told him on the test he had to write at least 3 paragraphs, and what he wrote was not enough. He said he couldnt think of anything else.
Ok well let me help you. I wrote 5 extra questions on the board and told him to pick which one he wanted to answer. As a matter fact, why dont you just bang them all out is what I said. When you finish with one, move to the next question. I better see your pen moving til the bell rings. The room fell quiet and everyone looked confused. I announced to the class that they should all be writing and not talking til the bell rings and not a second sooner. I know they all thought I was the bitch of the century.
But what they dont realize, and what Ive said PLENTY of times before, is that when they looked bored, and dont do work in class, it makes me want to give them more work. I am naturally combative and when they think they can just sit in class and do nothing, I make sure they KNOW, that shit AINT going down in my class. They need to skip/not come to my class if they plan to do nothin. The year is not over yet and they need to understand that. Its funny too, cuz I actually planned to do fun activities and games til the end of the year. It makes no sense to learn anything new cuz we have finished the textbook. So im thinkin we could do some games, speaking activities and such. But the way they actin, it looks like writing assignments, dictations and boring stuff. I wish they would just learn to do their work.
Silly rabbits......Im clearly campaigning to NOT teach this class next year. I will NOT have it!!! The majority of them dont like to do work, and I WILL NOT fight with them the entire year cuz they are not doing their work. Im SO OVER IT.....

ME
Altho overall Japan was fuckin amazing, it did have its ups and downs. Ill start from the beginning:
I was studying Japanese in HS and hated it. My jap teacher was a total bitch, on top of the fact that I had her class first period and was ALWAYS late. I failed japanese in 9th grade. But fortunately for me, that jap teacher left and there was someone new the next year. I decided that maybe I shouldnt be so lazy and actually think of how studyin jap might be good for me in the future. We had jap investors at my school who funded a free trip to jap every year and i assumed that cuz my grades were so bad and i had gotten into trouble a few times during 9th grade, I wouldnt qualify to go on the trip.
So I finally decided to apply during my junior year of hs and luckily I was chosen. I went to Tokyo for 9 days during the summer, and had the best time of my life. I KNEW I wanted to continue learning jap and decided that IF I went to college, it was compulsory for them to have a good jap program and study abroad there. I HAD to go back....
Im at OWU by now. I decided to apply for the Japan study program during my sophomore year and was so fuckin overjoyed when I got accepted (I think I still have the acceptance letter).I worked the entire summer to save money. My mom had a friend who lived there, so I went to Japan about 2 weeks early and stayed with her. We ate, drank and she took me sightseeing. I was hypnotized by the city.....
Enter school work here. The classes werent hard AT ALL. I mean they were fuckin easy to be honest. I disliked my jap teacher tho. As usual, out of about 40 people there was only me and one other black girl who was from the burbs. She was wack tho, so I dont even count her hahaha I became BFF with this gay dude (we atrract like maganets...hey JZ) and this girl names Malory. By the end of the first semester around X-mas time I had all a's and like 1 b.
It took me a while to get used to life in Tokyo. My host fam was ok, but they were always busy. I had 2 sis and 1 bro, and they were all older. But they went to school and worked, so it was usually just my host mom and I. She was extra sweet and we adored each other. But you know, some ol bullshit ALWAYS gotta go down.....
My laptop wouldnt play this movie I was DYIN to see, so I decided to watch it in the living room. It was on the weekend and it was already late, so I didnt think it would be a problem to watch it then go to bed. My host bro came to the kitchen to get something to drink and I guess I scared him. The next day my host mom knocked on my door and said to me that I was not allowed in the living alone. That I was welcome to go outside or stay in my room, but under any circumstances was I allowed in the living by myself. Now naturally I thought maybe I misunderstood, but then I said to myself, I know damn well what she said. I shrugged it off as being a weird Jap thing, but it honestly bothered me. I went ot my director at school and asked her about it, and she told me she never heard anything like that but she would call my host mom to see if I indeed heard correctly.
well wouldnt you know she called me into her office one day and sat me down. We had an american advisor come with us and teach at the university so she was there to. My advisor told me that I understood correctly. My host family gave me a list of house rules and thought they included that on the list, when they actually left it out. They didnt want me to steal anything valuable, so I was not allowed to be in the living room at all alone. When she told me that I broke down crying. I was so upset, disappointed, HURT, disgusted, sad, etc. We never resolved the issue. From them on I was so isolated and didnt EVER go into the living room. I went straight to my room after dinner and the fam barely saw me cuz my room dorr was always closed after that. I didnt to leave the fam and move somewhere else.......
Things got A LOT better after that! I started hanging out in clubs, workin a job, started dating someone, shopping more. I even stayed in a Buddhist temple with monks. But then I had to leave early becuz of some crazy Monk stalker (another story) who decided he fell in love with me (WTF?!?!). Oh then there was that time I was drunk and damn near passed out in the station. So many stories, so little time....hahahahaha
I came back to the statesm thinner, more feminine, humbled, and with just so much more experience under my belt. I fell in love with dresses, and showing off the natural curve of my body, shoes, make up, Raamen, sushi, designer handbags and a whole bunch of other superficial stuff. But also with a lot more knowledge and experience than I would ever have learned from a textbook!

We sit down and order juice of course (I dont condone drinkin with sutdents....before 1 PM lol) and Gabby gets up and says she will be right back. So im sitting with Yavor and we are talkin abd catching up, since they are done with school. Shortly after, Gabby returns with this BIG ASS bouquet of flowers (below) and I was totally blown away. They both said they wanted to thank me for teaching them this year. They said it really helped and they were really happy to have met me. I was so surprised and just blown away. I wasnt sure if I was helping them at all. It was just the 2 of them in the class and it was hard to do certain activities like games becuz there werent enough people. But I suppose you never know who you are reaching or having an emphasis on.
Well anyway, I just wanted to make sure I blogged about these 2 students. They are really smart, polite and just excellent students in general.
Eat your hearts out damnit!!!!!! I know none of you received anything from your worthless ass students (I meant that in the nicest way possible!)!!!!!!!

Me
I was born in Harlem Hospital in 1985. From the pics Ive seen, I had a full head of hair and I was a GORGEOUS baby (no lie). My older sis Ray was 3 and her birthday is just 6 days before mine. My childhood is a blur, so Ill gloss over it. I will say tho that Ive seen pics of me and I went thru phases including an ugly duck phase. I also had complexion problems. In pics that Ive seen I was really light then in others I was really dark. Oh, and I had super long hair when I was younger. As the story goes, people had to stack several phone books on top of a chair so that they could braid my hair to the bottom.
So in high school I felt like a total space cadet. I never really had many friends, and I dont know if it was because I was weird or because I didnt like anyone. But I always remember being athletic and loving sports. In hs I played volleyball, basketball, and softball. I was really in shape and had a great body. I also loved participating in smart extracurricular activities. I came in first place 2 years in a row for story telling, Ive won numerous 24 competitions (a math game), 2nd place in the Spelling Bee, and I was on the Model UN Debate team. I actually thought being smart was cool, and I think it was kinda natural for me. I was in an advanced math class and I loved my physics class. BUT I had no direction. I didnt know what I wanted to do with my life and really had no idea what I could do. I didnt have a real role model and at times I felt really lost. My senior year I got out of school early and had a job. I missed my prom.......
College: Hooray!!! The first time Id really been outside of NY or away from home. My 4 years of college was amazing, and Im so glad for the experience. More to come soon.....
Karaoke in Pajamas!
Uumm Karaoke, thats me all the way. I got put on to it when I was in Japan. Tey have these elaborate buildings devoted to Karaoke, with individual rooms where you can act a fool and sing your heart out! They even have menus so you can order booze and food. The Japanese are notorious for Karaoke and I grew to love it.
I have a few necessities that I MUST perform. My fav karaoke duet is "A whole new world" from the Aladdin movie. I also love to do Alicia Keys Diary, and Nelly Furtado Im like a bird. Well we are all partyin now, singing and jammin. We've already covered Envogue, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Goo Goo Dolls, Escape, Nsync....a lot of 80s hits.
